Most of my experience as an instructor comes from my time at UC Irvine, where I have taught my own class as well as served as a teaching assistant for a wide variety of Economics courses while working on my doctorate. As a full-time instructor, I taught a course titled the Global Economy in the summer of 2022 which serves as a broad introduction to Economics and its connection with global events. You can find my syllabus here and reviews from my students below. While I prefer physical instruction which allows for an interactive learning environment, I have years of experience teaching online over platforms like Canvas, Yuja, and Zoom owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you would like to read my Teaching Statement, you may find it here. Keep scrolling to see some of the more flattering things my students have said about me or you can download my entire history of teaching reviews from UC Irvine here. While I have taken a break from teaching to work in policy analysis, I hope that I can return to the classroom as an instructor in addition to my policy advocacy in the future; this will likely require a move to permanent residency that will let me work two jobs in the US!
[H]e's one of the best economic instructors I've ever had...As an economics student who hated their major, he brought back my interest for it.
He does a great job at making sure that everyone gets a chance to participate. If you have questions, he explains them so well that a student can understand a concept with a single explanation. He also encouraged students to have conversations about the economy that apply to our lives rather than just making sure that we have the material memorized.
One of the instructor's teaching strength is that he can explain everything so clear with examples. He was not just reading the presentation, however, he provides multiple examples with every single concept. This was amazing. He also answers each individual's question really clearly and help us deeper understand the topic.

He is simply amazing. He dominates class material and explains it in a very clear way. He is really understanding. Taking classes from abroad without the complementarity of studying with my classmates has been very difficult. [B]ut Jai's help during discussions has made things much easier. I've learned even more from labs than from lectures, I am sure this guy will be an amazing professor.
Jai was very clear in his communication during the sections. He was very interactive and tried to make it a two-way discussion. He helped a lot with breaking down complex structures into smaller bits to drive home the main point of the material. He was organized and that really helped me to stay focused on the course.
Jai provides helpful feedback on the assignments and midterm. Jai is also well prepared for discussion sessions and is clear on presenting derivations as well as MATLAB. Jai also has wonderful handwriting that is easy to follow along. Thank you for being our TA for Macro 3.

Jai was one of the greatest TAs I've had. He genuinely cares about his students and their comprehension of the material. He guides us step by step. He also goes beyond the material he was expected to teach so that he could provide us some insight and help for the homework we have due the next week. I honestly learned more from him than the Professor. He's made economics clear and as interesting as he could. I think he'll make a really good Econ Professor one day.
The engagement, passion, and love for economics showed in the way he taught discussion. Going through examples, explaining the information we need to know and why we needed to know. In only 9/10 discussions I've learned more than I would than to lecture. The directness and simplicity of his teaching is what really allowed me and other students to understand the course. 10/10

Easily the best TA out of all my courses. Even hearing from students that have the other Ta's in the same course, they don't relate to me in the fact that the Discussions was helpful because of my TA. Jai was more than helpful, he was clear and never seemed like he was unsure about the material. I honestly thought he was better than the professor. It got to the point where going to Discussions were more important than actually showing up to class Lectures. If it wasn't for Jai, I would probably be failing the course.
He crafted clear and cohesive presentations, even taking into account the layout of the room so that every student can see (a negative externality if he did not!), which goes to show that he will go above and beyond to make sure that his students are succeeding.
He would keep the class engaged by using his charisma, which allowed the class to voice any concerns/questions. This made for an excellent learning environment that helped flourish my understanding of the material. Also, Jai related most if not all of the material to real world concepts which made Economics much easier to digest, this way of teaching reinvigorated my love for the subject once more.
